Hidilyn Diaz, who won the first ever gold medal for the Philippines in Tokyo, married her long-term boyfriend Julius Irvin Hikaru Naranjo on July 26.
The two met in the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Turkmenistan, where Julius also competed as a weightlifter for Guam. Naranjo eventually joined Diaz’ team and played a pivotal role as her strength and conditioning coach in the Tokyo Olympics.
Hidalyn’s wedding cake was a 5-tier edible cake towering 3-feet high covered in edible gold leaf, adorned with fresh flowers, and embellished with 2 golden barbells signifying her triumphant gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games.
Congratulations to the newlyweds, Hidilyn and Julius!
