When a couple is truly in love and it’s so fresh that you can see it on their faces every time you greet them, you know that they’ve found their soulmate. When I first met Dani Baretto at Manila Peninsula for her cake tasting and design consultation, this was my impression of the young couple. Xavi Panlilio and Dani Barretto have a special rapport and made me feel comfortable during the cake tasting experience as if we were long-time coffee buddies. They were especially excited to get down to business and start discussing the cake!

We laid out 4 flavors for Dani and Xavi to try: French Vanilla, Lemon, Chocolate, and Red Velvet. Dani loved the red velvet cake and the couple chose to take a non-traditional route and decided on a 3-tier semi-naked red velvet cake with sugar flowers (lots of sugar flowers, I might add). Dani also selected a Savory Naked Spread for cocktail hour, which would keep guests contented while the couple did pictorials after the ceremony. After tasting Naked Patisserie’s famous Chocolate Oreo Cheesecake Truffles, Dani and Xavi ordered Luxe Gift Sets that, when opened, said “Will you be my Ninong?” and “Will you be my Ninang?” A sweet and surprising gesture that many Naked Patisserie clients use as a way to formally invite Principal Sponsors to be a part of their wedding day.

As the wedding came closer, Dani texted me her invitation and color motif which was mostly neutral tones– I felt compelled to submit to her another idea for her wedding cake so I met with the Naked Patisserie design team and we came up with a 5-tier semi-naked cake that had rotating layers of lemon and French Vanilla but still had a similar design to the original cake. The lemon and French Vanilla cake complimented the color motif and the grandiose all-edible design would be perfect for their special day. When I texted the new idea to Dani she responded: “I totally trust you and the Naked Patisserie Team.” It was time for us to make her dream wedding cake a reality!

The cake towered 3-feet high and was adorned with handmade sugar flowers including David Austin Roses, Japanese Anemone, Hydrangeas, Snowberries, Eucalyptus, and Rose Leaves. Dani texted me the day after the wedding and said “Thank you so much to you and your team for the beautiful and yummy cake.”

The Savory Naked Spread featured a selection of fine cheeses and cold cuts like Manchego Curado, Gouda Chili Sambal, Gouda Green Pesto, Brie, Roast Beef, Pepperoni and Proscuitto. Other crowd favorites on the Naked Spread were The Naked Foodie Signature Southern Chicken Salad, Deviled Eggs, and Homemade Pickled Garlic Roasted Pepper Relish on Toasted Baguette.
